wellll, that's novel. that a catholic can obtain a Plenary INdulgence for a deceased non-catholic. it's heretical. i believe.. since Pius 9 decreed that a catholic can't even hope for the salvation of a person who dies outside the Catholic faith. that's from the Syllabus of Errors contained in Quanta Cura which is an ex cathedra pronouncement.
Plenary Indulgences are said for the remission of temporal punishment due for sin this continues in purgatory unless it is remitted for. to gain a P I the penitent must be truly remorseful for sin particularly mortal ones and be detached from venial and mortal sin. a P I cannot be said for the living.
